Went our to lunch with my brother and sis-in-law yesterday, and wandered a local antique/estate sale. We came home with these fabulous and well-made decorator pillows, (selling each one separately) each incorporating charming Victorian era needlepoint, needlework, embroidery panels. The one being sold here is the largest of our finds, a full 26" long plus all that 2 1/2" wide tasseled fringe, so very nice sized. The fun part of this one is that the designer has incorporated a pair of worked needlepoint and punch work embroidery c.1840-60s slipper tops into the upper panel. I have many sets of those antique Victorian slippers, and I had not even thought of making them up as pillows. A charming idea! A very nice choice of long lush fringed wool trim expands it's already large form. Additionally, it has a center gusset band so it is deep and lush at the same time. Very good to excellent condition both for the age of the old c.1840-60 needlepoint and stump work slippers used, and for the newer plush fabric and trims. The pillow is clean, no odors, no stains, just lovely. It has a thick fill, but it is not down-filled. The pillow is made without zipper, but one could unpick a section and trade out it's fill-pillow with a down pillow quite easily. Shown from all angles. A few wool stitches on the slippers left behind with the years, but you'd have to search them out - they do not detract. Measurements in full noted on the photos. Oh, I almost forgot, there are also 2 extra-long wool tassels at the toe of each slipper form. One is a little tattered by age. my guess would be this was made into a pillow 40-50 years ago. Again, no odors or stains.
