Likely originally bought from the luxurious boutiques of the old Richelieu Palace, known as the Palais Royal, with all that comes with that designation, this stunning little gem has a small bale which needs a larger gold bale added so you can wear it on a gold chain as a pendant, or as a pocket watch fob. More like jewelry than monocular, and yet it is fully functional as a 3-draw opera glass. Complete, very well preserved with its prong-set garnets, each facet-cut, and the barrel of mother of pearl and broad gold bands. Full measurements noted on the photos.
Very good to excellent condition throughout. I can find only as detraction the fact that it needs a light dusting on the inside of those perfectly clear lenses. No breaks, no dents, no loss of the mother of pearl which is set so perfectly, much higher quality than much era whimsical objects, almost guaranteed to be Palais Royal, without having a signature for it. These are so rare, and the more so without flaws. Don't miss it.
