I have a zillion beautiful old French frames, and am finally beginning to work them up to sell. If you're wanting to put together a tabletop or piano or desk grouping of your favorite photos, these are splendid grouped in various sizes and shapes, all sold separately. Almost all are c.1850-1880, "Napoleon III" era, mid-Victorian in age. A few are earlier, none later.
This one is a gorgeous square large-sized frame, over 14" tall. A smaller round (no glass) and oval aperture are beautifully set, the oval has convex original glass. A hanging loop top and intact original 19th century convex cover glass in oval. Ready to add your small photo and display either hanging or with easel stand. Measurements are noted on photos.
Very good to excellent condition, beautifully crafted. These old ones have fine detail and this one has no damage to report. Thick cast, brilliant dore bronze. A cloth (silk moire, refurbished beautifully) inner mat into which the 2 apertures are set, flanked by figural appliqués. My favorite type of French frames. A metal tabbed back has a woven cloth backing and would look good from any side if displayed on a separate easel stand. It opens on backside, fully intact.
