An elaborately sequined hand fan, fan with 16 ribs and the sticks and guards in blond horn, c. 1900-1915, and made as a style revival from those fans of 100 years earlier.
Tulle leaf embroidered with silver and gold sequins on the front side remains in very nice condition. It has been well-kept in its original box which is marked Gallard, Tours (France). Guards are 22cm long, and when open, fan has a width of 39cm. There are 16 slender bone ribs, all remain in fine condition. Measurements noted on photos.
Very good to excellent condition for age and type, probably owing to the presence of the original box. Sequin embroidery seems remarkably complete and the ribbon edge is superb for age. Inlays on the guards are complete and very beautiful. I see no warping, and it folds smoothly. Could use a tiny touch of adhesive on the tulle where it attaches to the guard, perhaps. I'll leave it to next owner's decision. I do believe one could (carefully) use this one at opera, events.
