From my own collections, being disbursed now, this is a stunningly beautiful but imperfect 18th century snuff box. Cut agate, some quartz crystals in a remarkable natural stone - semi-precious material which would have likely been a favorite, as it has been to me. One so old, well over 200 years, it made it's way through the French Revolution, Napoleonic Wars, upheavals in French history and does have fine tight hairlines to show for the life it's lived. The gold layered silver or brass alloy framework has kept it together and it displays so beautifully, open as you see it in some photos. Full measurements noted on the photos. 

Good to very good condition for age and type, surprisingly thin-cut natural stone, possibly from mines in Germany or further afield, remain mounted and beautiful in spite of some hairlines. The bottom of the box has the most, and is actually missing a triangular chipped section. There is a hairline on the top panel, visible from the top but less when the box is open. Photos show all panels, as does price. Displays beautifully, and is to be appreciated for its era and age, as well as inherent beauty.
