Lovely antique to vintage American sterling silver overlay 28oz decanter, intaglio engraved chrysanthemums & foliage and in wonderful condition! A lovely piece of American craftsmanship, this sterling silver overlay decanter showcases fine artistry from the antique to vintage era. The 28 ounce capacity makes it ideal for spirits, wine, or decorative display. Hand etched or engraved chrysanthemums & foliage in intaglio technique create intricate floral patterns encircling the glass body, complemented by the elegant sterling silver overlay detailing. The combination of fine glass work and precious metal overlay reflects the quality and sophistication of early American silver artisans. Not quite sure if it would fall into the Art Nouveau style Perfect for collectors seeking authentic vintage barware or as a refined centerpiece for any room. A timeless addition to a curated collection.
Very good to excellent condition. The marking "Sterling" is actually incorporated into the sterling overlay so sort of easy to miss. There might also be another mark for silversmith but I'm not sure and, if so, it's illegible. There also might be a tiny roughly 1/8" piece of overlay missing from the top portion of one leaf. Tiny nips to the stopper tip but no larger chips, cracks or damage. See images for all measurements.
