Rare late 1700s portrait miniature of a child, a girl of about 5-7 years of age, old enough to be in the classic style of her time, very low bodice gown. She's perfect, saved and treasured for centuries under the old slightly convex cover glass, and in her thick cast French easel frame, Louis XVI era. No way to know whose child she was, nor to know if the painting was done to mourn her or to carry her with a traveling mother. From my personal collections, one of the sweetest little ones. Children are a rare find in these early paintings. Measurements are noted on our photos.
Very good to excellent throughout. The old silk fabric on the front mat has great age to it, but is holding well for age. No flaws to the frame nor the precious portrait it's contained now for 250 or so years, Louis XVI - Georgian era.
