RARE, indeed! While there are several of the outer round bronze and pieta dura marble mosaic caddies like this available, it's been a very very long time since I've seen one both complete and in so close to pristine condition throughout. These were created as Victorian to Edwardian era Grand Tour souvenirs, and most were once fitted as you see here, with an upper lift-out leather and silk velvet upholstered jewelry tray, and a lower matching tray which holds 4 matching scent or lotions bottles. Large and heavy gilt bronze, the complete set as you see here weighs 3-4 pounds. The beautiful craftsmanship extends throughout, and the lift-off lid is accented with bands of kiln-fired enamel and a center floral plaque of pieta dura (Italian marble mosaic). Very good to excellent condition for age and type, the only flaws notable would be 1 scent bottle is missing its stopper (perhaps original as a lotions bottle) and 1 has a stopper that has 1 lobe missing. It is not stuck, but perhaps was dropped. The entire set is of finest quality and condition - a centerpiece for any true collector of perfume and scent caddy antiques. We've added a final group photo showing it with other scent collector's items for a sense of scale and ambiance. The leather and moire silk and silk velvet making up the exquisite interior lining and trays is in quite incredibly fine condition, no real flaws to note there. The perfume tray has a heavy bronze lift out handle in center which is very sturdy, as well. No dents. A little in need of a polish/buff but not flaws beyond the stopper as mentioned, and the very lightest sign of use. The pieta dura and enamel work remains perfectly preserved. And we got it at an exceptional price which we're passing along. I know there's a box only, found in ebay, which is $2495 right now. Lesser one or 2 available, none can even compare with this one.
