It was designed by George Hollinwood, who received the U.S. patent for it on June 6, 1922. The Smithsonian identifies examples as made 1922–1929, which corresponds to the final years of the Ansonia Clock Company's existence.  The Science Museum Group gives a somewhat broader manufacturing range of 1922–1939, but that's likely because some Sunwatches continued to be sold under other arrangements after Ansonia ceased operations in 1929.  \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe instruction booklet states that it was \"Manufactured by The Ansonia Clock Col, 23 Fore Street, London\".  They were marketed as a “tickless timepieces” and was aimed at people who spent time outdoors.  It was particularly associated with Boy Scouts and outdoor enthusiasts.
