Wonderful antique Victorian era Brittany style chip carved 6â square tea caddy or humidor, a lovely decorative box with ornate carvings on all sides and hand painted porcelain medallion mounted on the lid! I just love the contrast between the beautifully carved wood and that black porcelain plaque or medallion, the colorful flowers hand painted on its convex surface just add to the visual appeal. The interior is listed in a textured foil type paper which leads us to believe that it would have been used as a tea caddy or possibly tobacco humidor.
Very good condition. Just a few small worm or bug holes visible on the exterior but nothing active of course. A few small nips to the wood but no larger chips, cracks or damage to note. No key but all the original lock mechanism and hardware are intact. See pictures for all measurements.
