Exceptional & rare antique Napoleon III or Victorian era hand carved 13.5" tall pocket watch or relic display stand, highly ornate reticulated or pierced case with delightfully detailed cherub or putti figures top & bottom! WOW! Isn't this one fabulous! Rare size and form and the carving is truly magnificent. Rocaille style scrolls framing the center watch or relic holding fixture, all one piece with the attached base platform. We're sure it's an opulent pocket watch holder but the large and overly ornate style is similar to that of the older 19th c. reliquary stands and it would work wonderfully for that also. The circular opening has a 1 5/8" diameter but the pocket on the back is a bit larger at around 2.5" wide so it'll accommodate a relatively large piece. Marvelous and just in from France, don't miss it!
Very good condition. As you can see, there are a few chips to the tendril tips along the sides but no breaks, repairs or warping. There are also two chips to the base, one center just below the cherub figure and a bit on the far right side corner. See pictures for all measurements.
