Lovely antique English Victorian era 1840s hallmarked sterling silver 3pc Christening or baby gift flatware set in the original burgundy leather travel style leather box or etui with silver cartouche & ornate monogram! An elegant knife, fork & spoon nestled in the case and most likely originally a gift for a newborn or Christening. The monogram on the cartouche appears to be "D.E.W." though there are no monograms on the flatware themselves. All with an ornate pattern, all with English hallmarks and the one silversmith mark I did manage to find is for John Taylor & John Perry of Birmingham, circa 1829 to mid 1800s or so. A wonderful gift with history or, take them along on your Grand Tour for a travel flatware set sure to attract compliments.
Very good condition. There is a bit of small denting to the handles of the knife and fork, along with one small hole in each near the bottoms. No other flaws or damage to note. The box is also in great shape, complete with both clasps and only a few tiny signs of its age. See pictures for all individual weights and measurements.
