Absolutely fabulous & Rare 19th century French Napoleon III Empire style gilt bronze ormolu & thick beveled glass 6.5" jewelry casket or vitrine with the original opulent tufted blue silk or satin & gold piping interior AND Grand Tour or Napoleonic campaign (1798-1801) Egyptian influence in the intricate machined hieroglyphics around the sides, complete with colorful enamel accenting! Gorgeous and you really need to see this one in person to get an idea of the skilled craftsmanship and visual & decorative appeal! I've tried to portray it as good as possible with the enlarged photos so, hopefully you can get an idea of just how interesting, unique and rare the style & decoration is. Surely influenced by Napoleon's Egyptian campaigns, made popular and incorporated into all sorts of arts, furniture, decorative and silver wares. No signature or maker's marks that I can find but I wouldn't have been surprised to find this one came from an important or notable maker. Perfect to display a few treasured brooches, jewelry pieces or even smaller portrait miniatures OR, just as the wonderful decorative piece it is. A real treat, fresh in from Paris and sure to please!
Very good to excellent condition. I see no damage to note whatsoever, it's just as you see it in the images. The interior lining does have some wear but is complete, original and superb given it's age. See pictures for all measurements.
