This looks more expensive than it is, being that it is made c.1900-15 of French ivory, a celluloid of very fine quality that mimics ivory, and rather than sterling silver, which is the look, this is silver plate. A wonderful gift in its time, it remains in the presentation box and appears to have been treasured well but never used. The interior of the case is also clean and indicates no use. I'm sure that silver would polish higher than our photos show it. And if you look closely at the faux ivory, you'll see it has a very convincing grain. The "French ivory" faux is so superb, many today will misidentify it. But we're certain it is manmade. Measurements noted on photos, but it is 4.75" long.
Very good to excellent condition for age and type. The outer box shows a little wear but not much for age. The book mark shows none at all. A perfect gift for yourself of someone you know who still is in love with real books.
