Antique French Art Nouveau one of a kind artwork, a sculpture carved of wood - bas relief plaque of Diana, the huntress, and her dog, hound. And the unmistakable splendor of fine French Art Nouveau styling throughout. Aneroid barometer is fully intact and working, too, and while Rick wondered if it might not be a replacement, and I'm not entirely certain, it fits perfectly and is quite likely the original. The entire piece is so beautifully preserved, no reason to think any different. After all, 1915, not 1815. But you look, decide.
Very good to excellent condition for age and type, it hasn't any chips, no cracks, perhaps a tiny surface rub or imperfection, though I'mm too in awe of the fabulous carving to notice. We've never found a more lovely old carving, though certainly Art Nouveau isn't as old as most things we deal in. The gallery image says "20 inches", but that was an accommodation of space. It is 20.5" tall, 8" widest and the wood is 5/8" deep at the outer edge and nearly 1.75" in depth allowing for carving and barometer. Barometer does work, yes. We're in San Diego, and you know what they say about our weather - never change, pretty much 74 all the time. But this is guaranteed to work. And of course it's in French.
