In the revived style after Napoleon's French Empire, this frame is a bit later, c.1850-70, Napoleon III era, and a very fine one, indeed. Yes, the backing shows all the age, but the silk and appliqués and bronze wreath-top outer frame and its salmon pink silk mat are just beautiful in display. The original glass is still there and it's simple to open from backside and put your photo inside. I love this type of frame and use lots of them at home. The aperture on this one is nice sized at 3 3/4" in diameter. Sphynx are rare to find. Don't miss this fine one!
Very good condition for age and type. The face, appliqués, silk are all very good, nothing missing and very little fading or shredding on the silk. Original cover glass is intact, no damage. The backing shows plenty of its age, with the original easel stand no longer in place, though its last owner has found a nice way to adapt so it is still an easel frame. Flat-backed, so you could also hang this one. Nice sized, with the wreath top is is 7 1/2" tall, 6" wide, the main body of frame being 6" square.
