Antique French souvenirs of a Grand Tour visit to Paris, you see a small back-painted glass 'eglomise' souvenir painting of Notre Dame Cathedral against which a pocket watch is meant to rest, and a small jewelry box mounted below which shows a fabulous view of Opera Garnier, the Belle Epoche masterpiece. These little souvenir trinkets date between 1850-1920s, with this one falling into the 1880-1900 range. Charming, and perhaps a souvenir of your own Grand Tour. Collect all your favorites. These have long been one of my favorite little treasures, and the older they are, the more thrilling to find.
Very good condition throughout. Even the old original lined interior for this box and its thick beveled glass top survive without loss or damage. Sam for the smaller view of Notre Dame. The old ormolu framework is also excellent but at some time in its history, the box must have come loose from its mount solder, and it has a rather unsightly (though not visible in display or use) repair to attach the box again to the framework. I've shown it in our photos. Looks for all the world to me like black shoe goo. It's definitely sturdy, whatever it is. A darling piece! Measurements noted on our photos.
