The miracle of Lourdes drew many to see the place where the miracle took place. A young girl prayed and Mary appeared to her. This would have been a c.1850-80 souvenir of that visit. It remains in excellent condition, a servant's bell. Some call it a hotel bell since they often appeared in hotels (hotel is a home in France). Eglomise is back-painted glass, and you have 3 larger rounds set into this brilliant pressed metal apparatus. The bell rings by tipping the figure up top.
Very good to excellent for age and type, that alabaster base has not a bit of chip or cracks, and the framework and bell are not loose or damaged, though very slightly askew. No polishing on this one - a lovely high gilt alloy. The base has the old red paper liner mostly intact, too.
