An elegant way to start your evening with guests or end it - aperitif or an after dinner liqueur service complete with tray, decanter and 8 original petit cups. About a shot serving each, this is a typical set any fine French home would have in the 19th century and also today. The set you see here is 19th century, c.1850-70, Napoleon III era. Stopper is original, fits tight and smooth. The tray is 10+" diameter, for scale - the full measurements are noted on our photos. Hand decorated in raised enamel, the muguets (small lilly of the valley flowers) are accented by gold leaves. Charming! Goes from casual to formal with ease, too.
Very good to excellent, probably had 12 cups to begin with, but with 8 remaining, a rare find. The little cups sometimes have nips on the very rim and you'll look these over well in our images and see that they're largely free of those but one or two has the rougher rim cuts we sometimes see. The cuts were often not very well polished after cutting on these old sets. No serious chips nor cracks and the set's tray is splendid.
