An elegant ornamental hair comb, French, Napoleon III era (c.1850-70, roughly) or possibly earlier. The comb would tuck in either at front with the bead and chain dangles across the area of upper forehead like bangs, or anchored into a chignon in back, hanging down for some elaborate up-do. It's a beauty, tiara collectors. It's brass but has a high gold to it as you can see (without polishing), so some alloy that doesn't tarnish like plain brass would.
Very good to excellent condition throughout. Nothing missing and it's pretty enough to actually wear. Maybe that "something old" worked into a bride's veil? Measurements are also on the photos.
