Artist signed portrait miniature, c. 1850-70, French "L. Andreux", or something close to that is the signature I have been unable to locate more info on the artist, but certainly he/she was influenced by the Impressionist movement. You can see it in all ways in this delightful portrait miniature of a matron. Well dressed, she is lively in her oval aperture and lovely low French bow top frame. She is painted in gouache on panel, typical of the genre, and her clothing and the artistic style both help us to tie her down to the Napoleon III era. we do not know her ID, but she's a Grande Dame of Paris' society for sure. And the dore bronze bow top frame is a lovely one for your collection, or for doll house display. Measurements noted on the photos. Please look there.
Very good to excellent condition. The painting is well shown in our photos though digital pics always do blow out a good deal of the finest detail in these. The painting is finer in person than in our images for that reason. Heavy old dore bronze frame is without damage. There is a rather new paper/card backing, and the hanging loop remains.
