Beautifully ornate antique French sterling silver 5 3/8" tall sugar casket or lidded sugar bowl, unique textured styling with guilloche style machined or engraved decoration over the entire body & lid, rocaille accented cabriole legs and medallion with interlaced "RC" or "CR" monogram! A lovely piece and nicely sized at just under 5.5" tall and 6 3/4" wide! Entirely covered in guilloche style textured decoration, engraved beaded bands around the rim and lid and simplistic sinuous side handles The French Minerve or Minerva hallmark on each piece, the tiny number "1" within those marks designate it as being in .950 silver (95% pure and higher than the .925 standard for "sterling" silver). I've looked the pieces over a few times and cannot seem to find the tiny silversmith mark. I'll look more and add if I am successful. Without the mark to narrow it down, weâd say this one dates to the late 1800s. Oh I wish we had the matching tea pot and service but this is a single. A beautiful piece and sure to please the senses!
Very good-excellent condition. Two or three very faint dimples but no larger dents, damage or repairs to note. Just a lovely antique French sterling silver serving piece. See pictures for weight and measurements.
