Perfect for your Bru doll house walls, or to hang with your fine collection of miniature portraits or landscapes. This is a 19th century French artist's unsigned but exquisite small still life - a bountiful bouquet of flowers reminiscent of the miniatures set atop the finest of TAHAN boxes (see our final photo). A miniature in its original 5 3/8" diameter wood frame, cover glass protecting it perfectly. I have not taken it apart to see if we have an artist's signature or note on back. The old sealed papered backing is mostly still intact and I hate to disturb. Will leave to its next owner.
Very good to excellent condition for age and type. Entirely hand painted in watercolor, this little gem painting has so much detail. Miniaturist artists fascinate me. The ability to put so much into such a small painting seems far more remarkable than doing same in a full-size painting. No losses, no chips to cover glass. Photos show it well. Stunning fine painting, delicate as a flower petal. Blue vase rests on a tabletop, and teh composition and palette are perfect. Some doll collector's dream miniature, to be sure. Measurements also on photos. The frame is wood. I'd date it c.1830-60s, and it's directly out of Paris. From my own collection.
