Lovely pair of antique French Napoleon III to Belle Epoque era white opaline glass nut, candy or dessert dish pair with wheel cut leaf shaping and raised gold enamel decoration! So, you have a fine old pair of French sterling silver vermeil ice cream spoons and servers and you're wondering what would be the perfect little plates for them to compliment, right? Here is the lovely ice cream or sorbet plate pair - French and antique and fabulous. The stylized leaf-shaped small bowl or plate is hand blown white opaline glass with a satin top, glossy bottom and crisp wheel cut edges rimmed in gold. Each is accented with raised gold enamel decoration just like the veins of the leaf, truly stunning! They're about 5" in diameter, odd-shaped, perfect for a bit of dessert of any type. Great as nut or candy dishes on the desk top also. Aren't they simply magnificent?
Very good condition. As you can see, there is quite a bit of wear to the gold enamel bordering and raised center decoration. Possibly a tiny nip or two but no cracks or larger chips. One has a faint greenish blue hue around the edge, Iâm not sure why and havenât tried to clean them in any way. See pictures for exact measurements.
