A beautiful set of hand painted fine old Limoges plates, from the famed maker, M. Redon. Ii've long been a fan of this maker and have numerous pieces of their cobalt blue and raised gold enameled porcelains in my own collection. This set has the typical quality, gold enameled rim and accents within the paintings. Each one is beautifully crafted and decorated, probably with a transfer outline applied first as there are matching plates of the 3 different scenes we show. Must have originally been a set of 12, because there are 3 plates with ducks, 2 with pheasants and just 1 with grouse. A pale gold pattern of color in that outer rim over cream color, tips the look to more formal and matches the richness of the paintings, which are also accented in gold. Very pretty!
Very good to excellent condition, I do not find any with chip or hairline, no breaks. There are very light surface abrasions here or there, not much but I'll mention it for accuracy. Our images show all. They are each 8.75" diameters. Great for cabinet or for use at table. Please set as a top plate and lift it and replace with another plate for serving, though - you don't want any utensil scrapes to mar the surface of those paintings. We like to use plates on a long rack above windows, as a decorative valance. These would be fabulous used in that way.
