Perfect little 19th century Grand Tour souvenir frame, pressed and twisted brass and affixed with oak leaves and acorns befitting the souvenir painting it holds. Noted on the hand painted banner at bottom of frame, it's a souvenir of Hamburg (Germany). We think of these little tole frames as French when they are surrounded with pressed brass painted flowers, and I suspect this might have also been produced either in France or after the French style. The acorns and oak leaves make it unique, don't they!
Very good condition for age and type. A little of the hand painting gone to the ages, as is usually the case with these old ones. Dating c.1880-1915, it's little easel stand and hanging loop backs are still fully intact. I love that it's a souvenir still, but you might want to remove the picture of the building and add a little gem photo of your own. These have always been so popular, I feel fortunate to have found a small collection from an estate in France. Look for our others, sold separately.
