Fabulous large antique French intaglio engraving panel on metal in a gold accented solid mahogany frame, "Une Baptheme Sous Le Directoire" after Frederik Hendrik Kaemmerer painting! The original shown in the online collection of the British Museum, the scene shows a Christening during the French Directorate. A young couple leaving church while the mother holds the newly baptized baby, the father wearing a bicorne, a group of family members and other guests beyond, a young woman taking money from her purse to give to begging children behind a fence at right. The bottom of the circular framework is marked "Une Baptheme Sous Le Directoire, D'Apres - Kaemmerer" and the intaglio engraving is after an 1879 painting entitled "The Christening" by Frederik Hendrik Kaemmerer. A wonderful decorative piece, don't miss it!
Very good condition. I see no damage or flaws to either the solid wood frame or engraving, even the original wooden easel stand is intact. See pictures for all details and measurements.
