Elegant antique to vintage French 18k gold on sterling silver "vermeil" communion plate or server with turned rosewood handle & wonderful visual & decorative appeal! We've had a host of religious themed antiques over the years, beautiful carvings, crosses, reliquaries, "burette l'eau" or cruet sets, etc. but this is surely the first communion plate we've had. Likely dating to the early 1900s, it bears the French Minerve or Minerva hallmark, the tiny number "1" within that mark means it's in .950 silver under the gold plating (95% pure and higher than the .925 standard for "sterling" silver. The silversmith mark is legible but I've not found reference to it yet but will add that info if/when I do. Gorgeous!
Very good condition. A few small bends along the edge and a bit of wear to the vermeil but no larger dents, damage or repairs to note. See pictures for measurements.
