With a thickly thatched roof, and beautifully carved brick detail, this little cabin or Swiss chalet opens to reveal itself as a very nicely preserved jewelry box with mirror inside the lid. Charming, you can see fine details and whimsical touches all around, from climbing vines to a woman looking out her window, to her 2 cats, one on roof and one (or is that a mouse?) on the mat in front of the canted corner door. Such a charming old thing. I'd say 'vintage', but could be as early as 1920, so perhaps now antique, or will be soon. Just in from France.
Very good to excellent condition, no breaks, no cracks, no hairlines in the thick and heavy old wood. The cat on the roof has a chip to the tip of one ear. I can't find anything else by way of flaw, however. Charming throughout, too. Don't miss the well on one side. Measurements noted on the photos, it is 8.5" longest.
