Fine antique Victorian to early Edwardian era brass or bronze jewelry or sewing casket, tea caddy or humidor box with champleve enamel lid accenting and Jasperware figural medallion! We've had this style in the past, a bit larger and it was fitted with a lift-out caddy that held thread spools for sewing but this could just as easily have been meant as a jewelry casket or possibly even a caddy for tea or tobacco (with just a different interior lining). Some signs of its age but a lovely decorative piece and I just love the Wedwood style jasper ware medallion, complete with horses & chariot!
Good to very good condition, age considered. There are two slight bends to the edge of the lid and three areas of the outer darker blue enamel inlay that are chipped out and somewhat restored. Some wear to the gilded finish with the coppery bronze visible. See pictures for all measurements.
