Fabulous antique Victorian era papier mache cigar case or etui with elegant mother of pearl star inlays, brass cartouche and original fitted & silk lined interior! What a beauty! One for the papier mache or cigar tobacciana collectors out there for sure! Jet black papier mache covers front & back and the front covered in star shaped mother of pearl inlays with brass cartouche! The inside is lined and fitted in a peach colored silk, original cigar pockets on each side and expanding baffles though the baffles have been glued at some point and so don't expand. A wonderful decorative piece! We've been working at listing a private estate collection of antique cigar cases, quite a few on and several more to come so be sure to browse some while you're with us. Thanks!
Good condition! No missing pearl inlay. Slight wear to the ebony finish and, as noted above, the expanding side baffles have been glued for some reason so do not expand. Some age darkening to the gilded bronze fittings and some staining or soiling to the silk interior, the pocket on the rear panel has a separation on the left side. The clasp works just fine, no problems there. See pictures for measurements.
