Absolutely gorgeous antique English Victorian era 9.5" salad bowl with 1895 London hallmarked sterling silver rim or collar and truly exceptional wheel cut crystal body! We normally have had French sterling silver rimmed salad bowls in the past, a few English but never like this one. The sterling collar is a thick band around the top, English hallmarks for sterling silver and the silversmith marks are for John Grinnell & Sons, London circa 1892-1905 (the date letter places the manufacture in 1895 though). The crystal body is simply superb, overly thick and heavy...the piece weighs an amazing 6 lbs 14 oz.! A lobed pattern with facet cut strips between encircle the sides of the bowl, the bottom with a deeply wheel cut sun or star shape & facets. A beautiful piece and a lovely, elegant addition to your formal dining table!

Very good condition. There are three small flash chips to the edge of the round center base and possibly a few smaller/tiny nips here and there but no larger chips, cracks or damage to the bowl. One rim dimple that I can see and a few slight edge scratches but the sterling is also in great shape, especially considering its age and the two great wars it's survived. See pictures for measurements.
