Isn't she just the most stunning young beauty! Don't you half expect a jeweled crown! French Empire to barely afterward, c.1815-30, a gown in transition of styles. The rare blue-eyed blond, perhaps engaged or married Prussian Princess on Grand Tour? The artist's signature is there for us to research, given the time. I've shown it as clearly as I am able, and will continue my own search for more information on this artist.
Very good, really excellent condition for age and type. Her frame is typically French and in fine form, as is the painting. Protected under the original convex cover glass, not a bit of damage to report. The painting? Magnificent! Nothing to report. The signature is shown for your research. To me it is a mush of letters. Measurements noted on the photos, but her frame is 5 1/4" x 4 5/8" and the painting is 2 7/8" x 2 3/8" oval wafer, attached to its backing. Her face, just 7/8" from chin to hairline. As is sometimes the case, the signature is hidden once in her frame.
