Simply gorgeous! What I feel certain was originally meant to display pipes (18!) or perhaps a spoon collection, would also work as a presenter for cigars. The opening is 1/2" round, and there are 18 of them. Elaborately hand carved wood, acanthus and rocaille and multi-tiered shelves remain in remarkably fine condition. There is not a hanging apparatus, but it seems to be a wall plaque type shelf/etagere. I see nothing on back to suggest it had an easel stand, though it seems almost to have been made to accommodate one if chosen - those 3 'legs' at bottom. Dating late 1800s to earliest 1900s, you'd better buy it fast before I find a place for it. Isn't it just gorgeous!
Very good to excellent condition, large and impressive at 18" tall and 13.5" widest, 2 + " depth, I see nothing missing, no substantial chips to point out, and it's sturdy as can be. Ready to hang with addition of a little hardware. There are 18 round holes ready to use to display your pipes, cigars, spoons - marbles? You'll think of something perfect. It is just in from France.
