While these have all the look and quality of some of the finest antique Minton hand painted plates sets we've had in the past, we know from the marks that these were made in January, 1957. The set is a wonderful cabinet plate set you'll enjoy using as decorative toppers on your dining table, too, but please please don't let your guests eat from them. The plates are each works of art, each floral bouquet hand painted and signed by the artist, as you can see. They should be lifted and removed from table when you serve the salad plate, which allows your guests to enjoy the dressed table, but keeps your beautiful plates from damage by utensil scraping. That said, this set of 8 plates, 9" diameters, is such a breath of springtime, you might just want to hang them on the wall as the fine art they truly are. I love the look of a rack of plates, don't you?
Very good to excellent condition for age and type, and I see no chips or cracks or hairlines to report, and no damage to the hand painted centers or the elegantly gold enameled pale green borders, either. A really beautiful set, vintage as they are. The plates have a 9" diameter.
