First of all, showing this against black in our images ended up giving it a little darker red than it is to my eye. I'd say dark tomato soup colored, but not all the way to tomato red. That said, the set is superb. Worked on brass rather than gold matrix, it's a bit less formal than some we've offered and have in the shop right now. Polished branches of natural coral and added carved round beads to set them off, the brooch and earrings at the style typical of late Victorian to possibly early Edwardian era. Original from the Naples area of Italy, this set was very likely a souvenir of someone's Grand Tour. These days, red coral is not only all the rage, it's gotten really pricey. I've had this set a long time. Make them yours!
Very good to excellent condition. One flaw: original pin and c-clamp on brooch have been removed. I see no breaks, and also no stems that are not still set with their coral. Nice polish to all 3 pieces in this set. Fun to wear, and you know I only use brooches as a pendant or enhancer for bead or gold necklaces. I'm not a brooch person, but if you wanted to make this one over to a pendant, you've got a head start on it because the old original pin and c-clamp have been removed, leaving just the 2 rounds of the original hinged pin - perfect to run a gold bale through, or brass one, even.
