No Tahan or Vervelle maker marks here but I'd not have been surprised given the elegant styling and you simply can't beat the condition! A most spectacular antique French gaming box, complete with the four lift-out interior gaming caddies and a variety of multi-colored gaming chips for players. The other compartments are for playing cards, dice, etc.. A remarkably well preserved and stunning work of inlays that include elegant brass strips an a large reticulated cartouche centered in the deeply domed lid. The cartouche has a monogram, 'TE' or 'ET' as shown. The exterior in richly grained veneers, all in superb condition. Great for the collector and/or decorator!
Very good condition for age. No breaks or losses in the inlays and the veneers are all gorgeous! The entire bottom of the box however, appears to have been replaced and the wide ormolu escutcheon is likely a later addition. The inner game trays or divided boxes come out and are all complete and there is a host of original game chips or tokens (all shown, only the playing cards in the last photo are not included). The box is truly amazing for age.
