Fine, large antique early Edwardian era Black Forest hand carved 35 3/4" tall wall barometer & thermometer with a fabulous Fruits of the Hunt theme including two large dogs or hounds holding prey, game birds hung as if fresh from the hunt and ornate pierced or reticulated vines & foliage! Lovely, just in from France and I'm so impressed by the size and condition....not to mention those fabulous large dog figures flanking the barometer dial. The original thermometer mounted on an enamel plaque, the barometer with an open mechanism and marked as a "Barometre Aneroide" with a maker mark between the words that I can't quite decipher. A wonderful, large decorative accent, sure to please!
Very good condition. There are some visible worm/bug holes in the wood but, of course, nothing active. A few chips to the white enamel on the thermometer plaque. There are a few chips to the wood in places but I really don't see any spots of major breakage or restoration (though there may be a glue here and there). Both the barometer and thermometer appear to be in fine working condition but we've not tested them for accuracy, etc. See picture for all measurements.
