The green color is the rarest one, and this charming little "egg" shaped opaline glass casket is a beautiful shade of semi-transluscent French art glass, both halves in fine form and still tightly mounted in the old ormolu (brass alloy) framework. Mounted on the round and pencil-edged plinth of alabaster, it is a fine little treasure. Photos tell it all. Measurements: 3.5" high, 3.75" diameter alabaster base; egg is 2.5" long, 1.75" front to back.
Very good to excellent for age and type. Napoleon III era (c.1850-870) or perhaps a bit earlier. There are no chips nor cracks to the glass and none to the alabaster base. No breaks to to the old ormolu frame and stand, either. Clasp closes and holds tightly, hinge is fine. No flaws to note, really.
