Elegant antique French Napoleon III to Belle Epoch era 25pc sterling silver flatware set, PUIFORCAT silversmith marks on this beautiful service for twelve in dinner sized forks & spoons with added Puiforcat ladle and all in the original fitted wood flatware chest! The ladle is not original to the 24pc service, hallmarked Puiforcat also though and the pattern works with the rest. Thick, heavy old French silver, the entire set weighs an impressive troy ounces or 2212 grams! All pieces have the Puiforcat silversmith marks, 1840-1878 French Mercure or Mercury marks also (2nd titre designating .800 silver content so they're not quite to the .925 of sterling silver). The handles are also marked 'A. Jobin, 800'. A large monogram on the top of the box is in a similar interlaced style but does not match that on the flatware. Ornate scrolling patterns with large interlaced monograms, just about as beautiful as they come and a complete service for twelve all in one place :). Don't miss it!
Very good-excellent condition. The box is in great shape, as you can see, with just a slight age/drying shrinkage to the top panel (resulting in a very slight lip where the lid panel meets the front top side). No damage or repairs to any of the flatware but, as noted, the ladle is not original to the set. See pictures for measurements.
