An exceptional and unused pair of j10" wide matching panels of fine wool/silk yarn needlepoint, Neo-gothic figural panels for decorating. Long enough to finish as wall hangings to flank a doorway or window (in lieu of drapery). Or to make up into upholstery of chairs, bench, or make glorious throw pillows. Each figure is enhanced by Neo-renaissance hound and dragon. A pale green-gray background will work for most decors, from neutral to colorful. Shown front and back, you can see there is really no fading to the yarn dyes, again proving the panels were never used. Full measurements noted on the photos.
Very good to excellent condition throughout, there are no areas of missing stitches to the heavy worked panels. No insect damage or missed stitches, no stains. Supple, strong, very serviceable. Dating c. 1880-1920.
