The pair of hunting hounds, signed by artist but not decipherable to my eye (see images), are just splendid small works of art and beg to be framed and hung in an intimate setting, beneath a lamp, displayed on bookshelves - you'll have the perfect spot. They're a pair I found in France. As you know, oil paintings of hounds or dogs are difficult to find. They never stay with us for long, once listed. Wonderful subject matter, beautifully accomplished. We've shown the artist's signature, but I truly can't make it out. Perhaps you can. Each painting is is oil on wood panel, beveled in back, and they measure 11" long and 5" tall. You are buying the pair, together.
Very good to excellent condition for age and type. It appears they were once framed, sadly removed and sold without their frames as we have presented them. Small and wonderful, I love petit paintings, miniature portraits, etc., of course and who can pass up dogs? No damage to the wooden panels, even have their sharp beveled corners. Age to the panel and the oil paint only add charm and appeal. Photos show all. You are buying 2 complimentary paintings as shown, hunting hounds in action.
