One of the most charming bears, this cub stands a full 8", himself, and the stand overall measures 12" in height - a nice big one which is unusual. The base is 5 3/4" x 3 3/4", uneven oval, and the entire piece is hand carved from a single piece of wood (see bottom). Happy little bear has a painted mouth and realistic glass eyes with pupils to help him come alive. Perfect for any decor, from Country French to English Manor, to cabin or lodge. I'd date him c.1880-1920.
Very good to excellent condition throughout, with a tiny nod to the shrinkage line in the base, which is just a natural part of the wood. There are no big or medium chips, just a tiny nip to tips of his sharp teeth, which you'll never see as he's displayed. Yes, all works fine, centigrade, original. Fabulous old thing, isn't he!
