This panel has just the most fabulous French colors (palette), does it not? It's like a little trip to Provence, and the freeform fruit-like representations only add to that feeling. Salvaged old French chair upholstery back, it's had little wear and is supple and ready to work up as a big down-filled and opulent decorator pillow, or even to upholster a bench or stool or chair seat.
Very good to excellent for age and type, there are no missing nor frayed stitches in the rather heavy wool yarn needlepoint. You can see from the images of the backside, there is a little fade for it's 150-200 years, but frankly, I prefer the slightly faded palette on this one. Lots of photos. You can see the canvas is folded under so a bit more length to work with, too. And it's supple, no rips, tears, no weak spots. I would not say this one is fragile at all. Has been rolled in acid-free tissue and will be sent out the same. We do not fold our antique tapestry pieces. No weakened creases. Measurements noted on the photos. Not added in would be the folded over edging. You're already picking out your lush fringe, aren't you.
