This is an antique tea caddy made of mahogany veneers and hardwood. It has three compartments, two that are lidded and appear to have once been foil lined. The other is a round opening center compartment intended for a crystal mixing or sugar bowl. (The glass one shown is not crystal or antique.) Each of the rectangular lids appears to have a small ivory handle and edging of a lighter colored wood, possibly maple. There is a working lock with a replacement key that fits into a diamond shaped mother of pearl escutcheon. On the top, there is what appears to be a silver plated metal inlay that does not appear to have been engraved but is quite worn. These old Napoleon III or Victorian boxes are always fabulous decorative accents.  Group and display, beautiful and definitely conversation starters.

Our antiques expert placed this caddy as being made in the Georgian, or possibly early Victorian Era. It does have some issues with cracking in the front, top, and back. The lid is slightly warped and there is a lift in the veneer on the left side. That said, it is actually in pretty good condition for an antique likely close to 200 years in age, possibly older. Working lock with key.  See pictures for all measurements.
