Just in from Germany recently, this is a huge and 'one of a kind' Antler Trophy smoker's stands, a drawer for pipes and pouches and every necessity tool for pipe or cigar cheroot service - cabin or lodge style. These are Black Forest artisan pieces, and are highly sought after today. I think this is the largest and most elaborate we've ever had - huge antlers used, their ends carved and lathe-turned, fitted to hold matches, candles, cigars, cigar cutter, and more. Antler tips on the base oak box, all 4 sides, and raised on legs of antler. A real work of art.Lots of photos show it from all sides. Do keep in mind the large size of this one. And note that each fitting up top is in place with pins into drilled holes so it'll be safe to pack and ship. Fabulous find!
Very good to excellent condition for age and type, I find no breaks at all, and no cracks to this c.1880-1920s Folk Art Black Forest smoker's chest. Nothing missing, no breaks or chips. Real antlers, lathe-turned and carved. Everything very solid. We will leave the antler items from the top of the box not permanently mounted, but they can easily be. As noted, right now they're set in place with pins to fit in drilled holes, each piece in its place. Heavy, solid, some of those base antlers are over 3" in diameter - imagine the Elk! The old oak drawer base is also excellent for age. There is an antique seller's stamp on the inside of the drawer, but I don't see a signature of the artist/sculptor. Large, impressive - hunting lodge or cabin, hunter's den, or Yellowstone set!
