Late 1700s to early Victorian at latest, this is a very fine work, very nicely preserved (has been in a frame under glass). Stitches are so tiny on face. I've clicked one photo with a ruler so you can see what I mean. That same photo shows the one flaw, an open space on her neck (showing white) where there is a hole. If you're intending to frame it, as it should be, you might put a small cut piece of the linen canvas from upper right edging behind the neck to mask it from view, but it's not distracting even as it is. Otherwise this very old silk and wool embroidery panel is just lovely and supple, so appealing. The figure is Renaissance era (gown, cap) and she has a pet parrot on her arm. I've shown panel from back, as well, so you can see the stitching. That 21.5" square measurement is for the worked part of the panel, and then the outer border of unworked linen canvas adds to that measurement, either to stretch or to just frame as you'd like. This is from my private collection, and I'll be listing quite a few in weeks ahead. Time to downsize myself a bit. I love these old examples of women's art, women's work.

Very good to excellent condition for age and type, just the one smallish hold at her neck (noted above). Tiny stitches. Beautiful palette of colors, and a gorgeous Renaissance figure and architecture, all the better with a parrot! That 21.5" square measurement is for the worked part of the panel, and then the outer border of unworked linen canvas adds to that measurement, either to stretch or to just frame as you'd like. For shipment, the panel will be gently rolled with archival tissue, sent in a round tube for protection.
