I have owned this portrait miniature for a very long time, waiting to identify the medal he wears. I have still not done research on it. It is not a Medal of Honor from France, and perhaps then he is English? You who know such things will help me by emailing, won't you? Thank you. The pendant or locket-like frame makes him perfect to wear on a long chain or ribbon. The painting is lovely, please consider it is only 2.25" tall plus the bale. Very good to excellent condition. I also didn't test to see if it's a low karat gold. I do not believe it is, and suggest it is a gold plated encasement. Very nicely preserved, it shows no damage. A small twist of wire shows in some images, used at some point to hang it.
