Fabulous pair of antique French hand carved cabinetry door plaques. Interesting mix of Neo-Renaissance and Neo-gothic decorative styles into a very pleasing pair of insets for either furniture doors or paneling, evidence of having been framed at some point, such as with trim moulding. The panels are a superb finish and coloration, mid-oak tone, or golden oak tone. I'm unsure what the wood is. I'm not an expert in woods. Full measurements noted on the photos.

Very good to excellent condition for age and type. Dating late 1800s to perhaps as late as 1920, and retain a beautiful finish. As you expect, there is the 1/2" evidence at perimeter that they have been used as carved insets in cabinetry doors or in room paneling. One might wish to frame them or mount on your own cabinets. Far cheaper than commissioning carved panels for cabinets, these would be fabulous as door for a recessed wine cabinet. I have some mounted on our existing cabinets and always love the look of a custom kitchen. You'll find the perfect spot! Please look closely, very fine hairline follows the joint of the flat boards used as backboard. They're not cracks, but one might wish to have some wood glue pushed into each and then clamp them tightly again. I see no chips or losses. I know they are not Black Forest, but we have only one carved wood category so will use that one.
