A fabulous pair of 11" tall hand carved Swiss Black Forest stands, in this case epergne stands which still have the magnificent wheel-engraved Bohemian glass vases or 'epergnes' original to them. This size carved set are what I typically suggest would make gorgeous lamps (an easy process), so I'll add a photo of a pair of others made into lamps (last photo). But, it's so rare to find a large set which still has both of the old vase inserts. I can find a very tiny nip on the upper rim of one - no other los or damage, which is almost miraculous. These date 19th century, likely c. 1880s. Large pheasants, each without damage. I think it's one of the finest pairs I've had in ages. Solid wood, so they're also heavy and very sturdy. Full measurements noted on the photos.

Very good to excellent, as noted above, for age and type. The stands have very little loss - a couple of tiny tips of fauna chipped, visible from the back view, tops. The pheasants are quite excellent, no damage to slender legs or long feather tails. The antique wheel-engraved glass flutes or vases are just stunning, with very French themes of musical instruments. I can feel one tiny nip on the rim of one, a tiny chip but not noticeable on a fragile old set like this. I'm sure at one point these were carved to match and flank a magnificent old Black Forest clock as a set, and sold out of Paris. Found in France.
